Samsung Odyssey G5: smooth gaming on a 27-inch 165Hz monitor
Gaming at 120Hz or above makes motion much smoother. Consider upgrading—it can make games a lot more enjoyable.
Let's start with Inside the box and see what is included when you buy this monitor.
1. The monitor
2. Stand neck
3. V-shaped stand base
4. The signature blue ring used on Samsung Odyssey monitors. Unfortunately, it does not light up; it is purely decorative.
5. DisplayPort cable
6. Power cable
Here are some interesting specifications of the SAMSUNG Odyssey G5 Gaming Monitor 27″ .
1. A 27-inch screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440
2. Flat screen
3. Aspect ratio of 16:9
4. Up to 165 Hz refresh rate, with HDR10 support
As for HDR , in my testing the difference when enabling HDR was more visible detail in dark areas. For example, when entering a dark location in a game such as Dead by Daylight , the HDR mode helps reveal more details in the shadows.
As a gaming monitor, it offers more than vivid colors, a large screen, a high refresh rate and HDR. Additional gaming features include AMD FreeSync Premium and Aim Mode
After using it, I found the colors attractive and motion very smooth. Samsung screens have rarely disappointed me on color, and the refresh rate here is high enough to make games genuinely fluid. HDR 10 also helps reveal details and enemies when playing in dark scenes.
